Vaccinations available for identified non-resident workers in Kahnawake

The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force (Take Force) wishes to inform the community that it is expanding vaccinations for non-resident workers of establishments that primarily serve local residents the week of April 6th

The Task Force is currently contacting owners of restaurants, groceries, gas stations, convenience stores, gyms/fitness training, and personal care/beauty salons to confirm names of employees who want to be vaccinated.

“Our main priority is ensuring that Kahnawa’kehró:non are vaccinated first, and we are working on getting non-resident employees of certain establishments vaccinated due to a higher risk of exposure as they primarily cater to local community members,” said Lloyd Phillips, Commissioner of Public Safety.

Prioritization for these specific establishments is required as the number of vaccines is limited.

If you are an owner of a business in any of the aforementioned categories and wish to have your non-resident employee prioritized for vaccination, please contact the Public Safety Division at 450-632-0635 by Thursday at 12pm.  A member of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre Public Health team will contact only those who registered their non-resident employees with Public Safety.

Elders need to book appointments for Vaccination

The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to inform the community that as of today, there are only 50% of the 70-year-old plus Kahnawa’kehró:non that have been vaccinated.

This is very concerning because people in this age group are the most susceptible to severe complications and death from COVID-19.

The Task Force is calling on community members to speak to their elders and make sure they know why it is crucial to get vaccinated.

Please help them to book an appointment and book for yourself. The window of opportunity to get vaccinated in Kahnawà:ke is limited, and the deadline to use the vaccine doses is quickly approaching.

Remember, anyone can get the COVID-19 virus.

Appointments can be made by using the Clic Santé form on www.kahnawake911.com/vaccine (the preferred method). A video of the booking process can be found on kahnawake911.com. Before your appointment, fill out the online Consent Form, print it, and bring it with you to help speed up the Registration process at the Vaccination Center. Appointments can also be made by telephone at 450-638-3930 ext. 2295 or2206. Please ensure that you have your Medicare card in hand when booking an appointment.
