Updated Public Health Measures as of August 5th, 2021

COMMUNIQUÉ

Updated Public Health Measures as of August 5th, 2021

For immediate release

(Kahnawake – 5, Seskéha/August 2021) The Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre Public Health Department and the Public Safety Commission wish to update the community on the changes made to the Public Health Measures as per Directive #65 under the Kahnawake emergency Preparedness Law.

The complete and revised Directive can be viewed  by clicking this link http://covid-19.kmhc.ca/2020/04/22/directives/

See below for some of the measures that are in effect as of today:

  • Runny nose and/or congestion is no longer considered a primary COVID-19 symptom; therefore, testing is not required if a runny nose and/or congestion is your only symptom.
  • All Kahnawake businesses that host their clients, such as restaurants, bars, social clubs, and EDC organizations, MUST maintain a registry of people who enter and leave the premises. Public Health requires the first and last name of each individual, their phone number, and the time of entry and departure.
  • Masking is not required while outdoors, whether in a private or public setting, such as a park, playground, ball field, or small family gathering if fully vaccinated. If partially vaccinated or not vaccinated, wearing a mask is required when a 2-meter distance cannot be maintained.
  • Masking is once again required for all Kahnawake businesses and EDC Organizations in all indoor common areas (example: conference rooms and shared office spaces), regardless of the ability to maintain distancing.

The Public Safety Commission and Public Health want to emphasize that although we are on a GREEN level alert, this does not mean the pandemic is over. We must remain vigilant and follow public health measures as a means to prevent any outbreaks and keep us on the right path forward.

Reminder – Quebec’s Vaccination QR Codes available Online

For immediate release

(Kahnawake – 5, Seskéha/August 2021) The Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC) and the Public Safety Commission would like to remind Kahnawa’kehró:non that Quebec’s Quick Response Code, or QR Code as it is commonly known, are available to download for your health records.

The QR Codes are being sent by Sante et Services Sociaux Québec to those who received their COVID-19 vaccination. The QR Code is a digital document embedded with your vaccine information. This document can be stored electronically on your smartphone, email or can be printed and carried with you. If you have already received your first COVID-19 vaccine but have yet to receive an email from Quebec with your QR Code, please visit (click below)

The QR Codes will also be used for a “Vaccine Passport” to access non-essential services in Quebec in the event of an outbreak or 4th wave. This is a government of Quebec initiative which was announced by Premier Legault earlier today. More details will be released soon.

Please note that, as mentioned above, some people may not have received their QR Code for various reasons. If you or somebody you know does not have access to email or the internet, please ensure to provide them with the link to Quebec’s website to request their QR Code.

The vaccine QR Code is an initiative of the Quebec Government and not the Public Safety Commission or KMHC; however, the concept is being assessed as it may serve as an alternative to possible further restrictions.
