Task Force approves reopening of gyms and personal care businesses

For immediate release

(Kahnawake – 11, Tsothohrhkó:wa/January 2022) The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force has issued Directive 6, which allows for the resumption of some businesses, which were closed last month due to a series of COVID-19 outbreaks within the community.

Effective immediately, the following businesses can resume operations with the following measures:

  • Gyms/Fitness Centers – Maximum capacity of 8 people, all measures of masking (3ply medical grade), social distancing, and hygiene must be maintained
  • Personal Care/Massage – Reduced capacity, all measures of masking (3ply medical grade), social distancing, and hygiene must be maintained

Remember, all activities come with increasing your risk of exposure to the virus. It is up to you to decide the level of risk you’re comfortable with.

Additional Vaccination Clinics available walk-ins accepted

Kahnawake – 11, Tsothohrhkó:wa/January 2022 at 3:30pm) The Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre and Public Safety Commission wishes to advise the community that additional Vaccination Clinics will be held this week by appointment and walk-ins:

Booster shots 18 years and older & 1st and 2nd dose for 12 years and older

  • Wednesday, January 12 – 9am to 5pm
  • Thursday, January 13 – 9am to 5pm
  • Friday, January 14 – 9am to 5pm

Non-Resident workers currently employed on the territory are also eligible, with proof of employment. Walk-ins will also be accepted for Kahnawa’kehró:non only.

Directive 6 – Gyms/ Fitness centers | Personal Care & Massage

A State of Emergency has been declared in Kahnawà:ke on December 20th, 2021. The following Directive is effective immediately:
• Gyms/ Fitness centers: re-open with a maximum capacity of 8 people. All measures of Masking (3ply medical grade) distance and hygiene must be maintained.
• Personal Care & Massage: re-open with reduced capacity. All measures of Masking (3 ply medical grade), distance and hygiene must be maintained.
