The
Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Pandemic Task Force wishes to advise the community today that
it has issued new directives that all non-essential businesses should be
prepared to close in the coming days.
The
action was taken as the situation within the region continues to worsen.
Furthermore,
Kahnawà:ke convenience stores are directed to sell only to Kahnawa’kehró:non, effective
immediately. Please be aware that we continue to rely on long-standing
partnerships for food and other essential supply deliveries. As well,
healthcare and other workers provide essential services to the community, so
people should be vigilant and not overzealous.
Additionally,
the Task Force wishes to advise the community that Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas
Community Services has initiated its ‘Emergency Food Services’ unit to secure
food supplies for those who may require it. This unit will also be responsible
to ensure Kahnawà:ke has adequate food storage within the community should it
be required.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission: Effective immediately, all land-based gaming establishments licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission will be closed until further notice.
For the protection, safety and health of the puiblic, this measure is part of an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The health and safety of Playground’s community, staff and players remains our top priority. In order to facilitate public health measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Playground will close its doors until further notice, effective Friday, March 13 at 11:59PM.

On Friday, March 13, 2020, representatives from the Emergency Management Committee (now known as the Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force) provided a LIVE video update on a meeting held with community organizations on measures to be taken regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The information in the video is dated for the time of the release. Please note that updates and changes happen daily.
The Kahnawake Fire Brigade and Ambulance Services provides an essential service to the community in the areas of Fire Suppression and Ambulance Services. The recent emergence and spread of the COVID-19 virus have resulted in the KFB becoming better prepared should this virus affect our current Fire/Paramedic First Responders.
If you have had Fire training, First Responder training, EMT/Paramedic Training with the KFB in the past and are interested in assisting the Brigade and community, please contact the fire station 450-632-2010. Leave your name and contact info and we will contact you.
We will provide some basic training to refresh your skills.

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers and Kahnawà:ke Fire Brigade wish to announce the launch of Kahnawake911, a new central information hub for emergency service-related situations on Facebook.
“We are currently in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Lloyd Phillips, the Commissioner of Public Safety. “The emergency service providers are working together to ensure that correct up-to-date information is made available to community members on this new Kahnawake911 page. This includes preventive measures to help limit the spread of the virus, measures being taken by Kahnawà:ke organizations that serve the public, and general updates.”
