KMHC Press Release – COVID-19 Health Check launched

COVID-19 Health Check launched

(Kahnawake – 29, Onerahtókha/April 2020) The Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC) wishes to announce that it will begin conducting a COVID-19 Health Check beginning immediately.

The goal is to assess the health of community members in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. While approximately 200 community members have been tested for the virus at the COVID-19 Test Facility located at the KMHC, the vast majority of Kahnawa’kehró:non have not been tested.

“While the Testing Site remains open for those who have or are exhibiting signs that they may have contracted the virus, there are probably others who may have experienced some signs but did not get tested, for various reasons,” said KMHC Executive Director Lisa Westaway. “It would be very useful to speak to as many people as possible to get a better picture of the overall health of the community regarding COVID-19, whether they have experienced some symptoms or are perfectly healthy and have never had symptoms.”

The Health Check shouldn’t take more than a few minutes, so no major changes in the daily lives of participants are anticipated. Testing will take place in your area, so there will be no need to visit the KMHC Testing Site.

It is intended that the KMHC will attempt to contact every number listed in the Kahnawà:ke Resource Directory. As there are many people who are not listed in the local directory, the KMHC is asking that any person not listed please contact the KMHC from Mondays to Fridays at 450-638-3930, extensions 2225, 2275, 2276 or 2296, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in order to participate. Additionally, interested persons could also send a message with your number to the KMHC Facebook page or email healthcheck@kmhc.ca.

Your participation is very much appreciated as we continue to fight this pandemic together as a community!
