Communiqué – First Nations Regional Adult Education Center

The First Nations Regional Adult Education Center will be closed for two weeks in all three Centers; Kahnawake, Kanesatake and Kane:kota in Montreal. This is a precautionary measure to reduce the spread of the COVID 19 virus.

During this social isolation period, our Centers are in preparation to use an online platform to continue providing education services to our clientele. We are hopeful that we will have this platform in place by early next week. Teachers will be in contact with their students to provide teaching materials and support with the online set up.

The FNRAEC staff will be available to assist if a deployment plan becomes necessary to our community, whenever possible.

Our Kanienke’ha Language evening course has been postponed during this closure and a group email has been sent to inform our participants.  The FNRAEC will update the participants through the email group as to our return date.

At this time, we have cancelled all our onsite workshops and we will use the time to disinfect within our building. We will continue to monitor the situation and make necessary changes as recommended by the Emergency Operations Committee in Kahnawake.

As like our all community organizations, the FNRAEC encourages all community members to follow Kahnawake911 on Facebook for continuous update in order to make informed decisions.

Carina Deere B.Ed., M. Ed
Director of FNRAEC
